TEACHING

The course discusses how fundamental physiological and biochemical activities of fungi impact the destructive and beneficial roles of these organisms in nature. Methods for utilization and manipulation of fungi for biotechnological and industrial applications are also extensively discussed.

Our service to students.
 

The course is dedicated to the study of fungi with emphasis on their physiology, biochemistry, genetics, evolution, and the diseases that they cause.

OUTREACH

Our service to society.

The PI currently serves as a faculty trainer for the DEB program. This is is an inter-graduate group program that allows Ph.D. students to receive and be credited for training in the area of biotechnology. The UCD Biotechnology Program is the administrative home for DEB.
 

The PI participates in the Biotechnology in the Classroom program that promotes teaching, training, and learning in public high-schools. This program is administrated by the Partnership for Biotechnology and Genomics Education (PBGE) and is designed to provide hands-on laboratory experience to high-school students and teachers in the Greater Sacramento Valley.
